The winery

Tucked away behind the church in a pittoresque corner of Frickenhausen you will find the wine estate of family Bickel-Stumpf. For almost tree decades typical Franconian wines have been produced here. Carmen Bickel and Reimund Stumpf have given the estate its name. In the year 1976, the two wine experts married and in the same year they united their two family estates in Thüngersheim and Frickenhausen.

Since then, wine an cellar master Reimund Stumpf, aided by his wife, has been consistent in producing wines of the highest quality. Each year their traditional Franconian wines Silvaner, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau and Spätburgunder establish their reputation as one of the finest wine-growers of the area. Numerous awards and a favorable press give further evidence to the popularity of the Bickel-Stumpf wine collection.

Top locations in Frickenhausen and Thüngersheim
Eight hectares of vineyards are to be found in varied locations such as the "Thüngersheimer Johannisberg" where the couple mainly grow their four red wines or the "Kapellenberg" in Frickenhausen on whose shell-lime soil the Silvaner grape is cultivated.

Most of the vineyards are situated on steep hills. Adhering to pro-environment ideals, Reimund and Carmen Stumpf cultivate grapes typical of the region, these being Silvaner, the most important representative of all Franconian wines, followed by Müller-Thurgau and Riesling. One fifth of the area produces red wines such as Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Portugieser, Domina and, since autumn 2002, Cabernet Dorsa. You can find our wines listed here.

Separate locations, separate production venues. The Thüngersheim estate was built by Reimund Stumpf's father on the outskirts of the village. This estate houses the cellars.

The wine shop
The wine shop, situated in a romantic part of Frickenhausen, is Carmen Bickel's childhood home.

Special events hosted by Family Stumpf are organized to combine the pleasures of wine-tasting with culinary delights.

Since 1994, Reimund Stumpf's red wines mature in barrique, whereas the white wines are processed exclusively in stainless steel tanks.
